Michele Auger: Textile Arts and Mixed Media

Michele Auger

Michele Auger moved to Madeline Island after her first visit for a weekend of sailing and meeting up with friends. She fell in love. Thirty plus years later, the island is still home for Michele, her husband and two sons. Trained as a photographer/dark room tech, Michele gave up her cameras for looms after discovering Woods Hall, a weaving and pottery cooperative on Madeline Island. Textile arts and mixed media painting are now her passions. Michele's inspiration begins on Madeline Island and is fueled by cultures from around the world. She has studied with instructors in many locations, and has partnered with France Austin Miller of Bayfield to offer painting workshops locally and globally. Michele continues to stretch herself in design elements and use of materials. Her exquisitely designed large format rugs and "women" themed paintings and weavings are highly sought after. The overall effect of peace through nature is ever present as a result of Michele's boundless creativity and intimate connection with her surroundings.
Turtletracks is open by appointment only, except for her open studio the last weekend of July.
Custom work is her specialty.
